Position Summary
Under the supervisory
direction of a Road and Bridge sub-department Manager and/or Foreman, the
Summer Maintenance Worker position performs skilled and unskilled work in maintaining
county roads, bridges, right-of-ways, and culverts. Work involves performing manual tasks and the
operation of various mechanical and power tools. The position is under the
overall supervision of the Road and Bridge Director and/or Superintendent. Work is subject to review by supervisory
personnel.
Essential Functions:
· Ability to safely lift and move repeatedly 30 pounds from floor to overhead;
· Must have the ability and physical strength to safely operate light equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, post drivers, chain saws, and other powered or hand tools;
· Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in sometimes harsh environments;
· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stand for prolonged periods of time as necessary;
· Must be able to climb steps, ladders, and work at heights;
· Must be able to work effectively with other workers;
· Must be able and willing to work safely and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and seatbelts with all tools and equipment;
· Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and communicate with all supervisors
· Must have a valid driver’s license
· Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience that are Advantageous:
· Mechanical and operational knowledge of motorized equipment
· Past experience and operational knowledge with mechanized tools and equipment
Education and Age Requirements:
· Must be 18 years of age or older and have a High School Diploma.
