The Seasonal Worker performs work of a manual nature, which does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or an acquired skill or previous experience in order to do an effective job. Work season is from April-September. Work is generally performed under the immediate direction of a supervisor, but many types of work assigned may be very routine and repetitive in nature and after once learned can be carried on without difficulty and only under general supervision.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Learn the operation of riding mowers, string trimmers and edger.
• Cleans litter from areas and ditches
• Learn proper use of hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, picks, shovels, spades, rakes, loppers, saws or similar tools.
• Work cooperatively with other City employees and the general public.
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
• Duties as assigned

Work Environment:

  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Lift arms above shoulder level.
  • Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
  • Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) short distances (20 feet or less).
  • Move light objects (less than 20 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet).
  • Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.

Schedule

Monday-Thursday 7am-4pm; Fridays 7am-1pm. 38 hours a week


EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
There is no experience or training requirement for this entry-level position.  Must be 16 years or older.
