The City of Haysville’s Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Water Superintendent. The Water Department maintains approximately 4,000 water services to a population of 11,500 citizens.

 Job Description:

This position performs the planning, organizing, and directing the operations of the water system. Ensuring that the water system is meeting or exceeding all federal, state and local regulations is required. This position oversees difficult problems with distribution system leaks and repairs, field’s questions, concerns and complaints from the general public and ensures safe potable water is supplied to the citizens, and businesses of Haysville. The Water Superintendent schedules daily operations and supervises subordinate personnel. This position also inspects water line projects and is responsible for the mechanical operation of the city pool.  

Exposure to blood borne pathogens, odors, noise, electrical and mechanical hazards is expected. Physical abilities include, but are not limited to, the ability to climb and balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 100 pounds. Working in all types of weather conditions can also be expected.  

Regular work days are Monday – Friday, 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. with forty hours per week. Weekend duty and on-call status is a requirement of this position.

Requirements:

·         18 years of age or older

·         High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

·         Background Check

·         Physical Capacity Testing

·         Drug/Alcohol Screening

·         Valid Kansas Driver’s License

·         Four to six years of similar or related experience

·         KDHE Class 3 Water Certificate & Backflow Prevention Certification

Compensation:

Starting salary is $20.35 per hour. The City of Haysville offers an extensive benefits package that includes personal holidays, sick leave, KPERS retirement and vacation after one year of service. The City operates a wellness incentive program that with participation offers paid time off.
