                                Human Resource Generalist

 

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist will be a key position within the Human Resource Department. Responsible for coordinating recruitment efforts, processing HR-related documentation, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures, and assist in various HR functions. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, both physical and electronic.
  • Process HR-related paperwork, such as status change forms, employee benefit elections and changes, and employee information changes.
  • Maintain and update HR databases and systems.
  • Provide backup to HR team in their absence. Cross-train in payroll.
  •  Answers frequently asked questions from applicants, employees and management staff relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. Referring to the Director when necessary.
  • Maintain job descriptions up to date.
  • Complete Motor Vehicle Reports every April
  • Open and close job openings when needed

Onboarding and Recruitment

  • Conduct pre-employment checks, such as reference checks, drug screens and background checks.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including paperwork completion and orientation sessions. This includes hiring/onboarding of seasonal employees during summer months.
  • Prepare and distribute new hire welcome packages and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Support recruitment efforts by scheduling interviews and other recruitment duties as needed.

HR Policy and Compliance

  • Ensure I-9, E-Verify and NATSB is completed within compliance.
  • Disseminate HR policies and ensure employees' understanding and compliance.
  • Support the implementation of HR initiatives and programs to foster a positive work culture.
  • Stay up-to-date with employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Benefits and Reporting

  • Assist in administering employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
  • Coordinate annual performance reviews
  • Complete surveys as assigned
  • Provides information on previously employed and employment verifications as needed.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, employee recognition events and retirement receptions.
  • Reconciles monthly HR vendor invoices ensuring adjustments are accurate and coded for payment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in completing administrative tasks.
  • Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations is a plus.
  • Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous Human Resource experience preferred.
  • Prior related office experience in lieu of education required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and follow instructions in English.
  • Multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment required.

 

Some of the Perks:
Competitive wage of $18.95 - $23 per hour depending on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

Monday-Thursday 7:30am – 5:30pm

Friday 7:30am – 11:30am with every other Friday off.
