The Maize Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for a Police Administrative Assistant.

TYPE: Full Time

SALARY:  $19.08 to $26.96 /hr depending on qualifications/experience

The responsibilities of this position are:

  • Assists the Chief of Police with clerical and statistical data.
  • Provides administrative support for all police operations.
  • Police Records Custodian - Establish, update and maintain Police Records in accordance with Kansas Statutes and departmental policies and protocols.
  • Serve as the KCJIS Liaison/TAC.
  • Responsible for cataloging, securing and maintaining physical evidence.
  • Assists with supply procurement.
  • Assists with budget management.
  • Greets, directs and deals with the public and staff in person and on the phone.
Required skills:
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Ability to record and maintain data accurately with attention to detail.
  •  Ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and other computer software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to forge relationships with all personality types and in difficult circumstances.
Preferred skills:

  • Working knowledge of Kansas Incident Based Reporting
  • Working knowledge of current methods of law enforcement records management.
  • Working knowledge of law enforcement processes
  • Working knowledge of the Kansas Open Records Act as it pertains to Police Records
  • Familiarity with Axon video systems
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Dispatch
Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED (Some college preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in police administration or related field.
