The City of Haysville is accepting applications for a Wastewater Operator I.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Wastewater Operator to join our team. As a key member of our wastewater department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our treatment plant. Your responsibilities will include daily inspections and repair of the treatment plant process and equipment, adjusting return activated sludge rates, and inspecting lift stations. In addition, you will be responsible for cleaning storm sewer catch basins, assisting in process equipment repair, and performing routine and emergency maintenance of the collection system. Individuals with utility work experience are encouraged to apply.

Exposure to blood borne pathogens, odors, noise, electrical and mechanical hazards is expected. Physical abilities include, but are not limited to, the ability climb and balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 100 pounds. Working in all types of weather conditions can also be expected.

Regular workdays are Monday-Thursday 7:30AM to 5PM and Friday from 7:30AM to 11:30AM. On call required with periodic overtime on weekends as necessary.

Requirements:

· 18 years of age or older

· Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (or obtain within 90 days of employment)

· High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

· Background Check

· Physical Capacity Testing

· Drug/Alcohol Screening

· Obtain Class I Wastewater Operator License from KDHE within 18 months

Compensation:

Starting Salary is $20.00 per hour.
