The City of Goddard, Kansas is growing and is actively looking for an energetic and dedicated individual who will help the city during this time of accelerated growth. The City of Goddard is located to the west of Wichita and is a growing suburb with many amenities including Tanganyika Wildlife Park, a new Genesis Gym and Blast of Bay water park, and excellent parks and bike trails.

From Goddard it only takes 14 minutes to get to Eisenhower Airport and it only takes about 20 minutes to get to downtown Wichita to explore the largest city in Kansas.

Job Description:

The selected individual will serve the city under the supervision of the Community Development Director to review permits for construction as well as any potential code violation concerns. This individual will be responsible for managing all storm water related documents and assisting in Planning and Zoning related projects. The selected individual will respond to complaints in regard to code violations, performing follow-up inspections to ensure corrections are made. Works with owners, property managers, tenants and other agencies on violations observed on a property. Prepares and maintains case files. Inspects the exterior of properties and structures for code violations and dangerous and unsafe structures. Order abatements on properties as necessary. Process permitting for construction and all other related permits for contract work within the city.

They will also manage the Storm Water Management Plan (SMP), Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) reporting and documentation. This will include ensuring active construction has the necessary Best Management Practices (BMP) in place.

They will assist the Community Development Director with Planning and Zoning related projects for the city including but not limited to rezoning cases, conditional use permits and application, variances, plats and site plans.

Communicates information effectively, accurately, and timely with internal and external customers.

Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Education:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Physical Requirements:

Work is both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Some elements of the job may require climbing, bending, and lifting.

Ability to access, input, and retrieve information and data from a computer.

Ability to stand for brief periods of time; ability to walk short distances; ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to twist, reach, bend, stoop, lift, and climb stairs.

Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry fifty (50) pounds.

The work environment will be in an office and in the field.

Job Type: Full-time:

Pay: $25 – $30 per hour depending on qualifications.
