Code Inspector - City of Coffeyville

The City of Coffeyville, Kansas seeks an experienced Code Inspector. Position will perform on-site technical residential, commercial and industrial building inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, city codes, and ordinances; provide assistance to builders and general public, issue applications and permits for building, and  planning and zoning matters.  Will prepare and present reports to the  Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Commission.  Responsible for rental inspections, gas and water pressure tests.

Essential qualifications include the knowledge of building related codes and ordinances approved and enforced by the City including Planning, Zoning, Building, Fire, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical codes; knowledge of construction and engineering principles, practices, methods, materials for commercial and residential buildings.  Physical demands require working in office and field environment; exposure to noise, dust and heavy equipment; climbing ladders and stairs when needed and working at heights.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, training in fields of planning, construction, engineering, architecture or related fields.   Knowledge of practices and techniques used in carpentry work, building construction, electrical work, plumbing work, and air-conditioning and heating work.  

Preferred qualifications include: three years of previous building inspection work experience, Associate or Bachelor degree in listed fields, and building inspection related certification, prefer ICC certification.

Salary range $44,000-$52,000 dependent upon qualifications plus excellent benefit package.  Applicants must be willing to meet the City of Coffeyville residency requirements to live within a fifty mile radius of City Hall, 102 W. 7th St., Coffeyville, Kansas.  Applications accepted until position filled.
