Superintendent of Fiber Internet Utility - City of Coffeyville

The City of Coffeyville is seeking an experienced Superintendent of Fiber Internet Utility to manage and oversee our fiber internet network and construction projects. This role is responsible to plan, organize, and control project activities while coordinating field operations, supervising personnel, sub-contractors and managing materials, ensuring the successful execution of construction projects.
As Superintendent, your responsibilities will include scheduling work to meet project timelines, overseeing staff on work sites, and conducting audits and inspections to ensure that work aligns with blueprints and complies with safety standards. You will also manage material and equipment orders, maintain inventory, and ensure the availability of necessary resources. Technical proficiency is crucial, as you will need to use power and hand tools safely, read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics, and troubleshoot and repair telecom equipment.
Candidates must demonstrate strong project management skills, including the ability to schedule, delegate, prioritize, and multitask effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) is required, along with the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions. Ideally, you will have at least three years of experience in the telecom or fiber optic industry, including prior management experience. An Associate's degree in construction or equivalent work experience is preferred. Knowledge of GIS is a plus.
Successful candidates will have proven expertise in working with telecom equipment, including safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Leadership and organizational skills are essential for this role, as you will be leading a team to achieve project goals efficiently.
Salary dependent upon qualifications between $60,000-$80,000 annually plus benefits including insurance, vacation, sick leave, KPERS Retirement and more. To be eligible, candidates must be willing to reside within fifty miles of City Hall, 102 W. 7th St., Coffeyville, Kansas. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
