POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Golf Course Operations Superintendent, the Golf Course Clubhouse Manager is an exempt position under the FLSA. This position oversees all TCGC Clubhouse operations, providing administrative support to the Golf Course Operations Superintendent for facility management and community interaction. This position is responsible for golf course programs and operations, coordinating seasonal and contractual staff, and serving as the on-site supervisor. Responsibilities also include planning special events and membership recruitment. Strong marketing, time management, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills are essential. This role requires a flexible schedule, including frequent evenings and weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Develops and conducts surveys on golf programs, tournaments, leagues, and facility use; compiles data and recommends program updates.
· Prepares and maintains records, reports, and evaluations of programs.
· Organizes golf programs, tournaments, and instructional activities for members and the public and oversees starting and marshalling of tournaments.
· Recommends and helps implement goals and services for the Golf Course.
· Supervises and trains staff, ensuring high service standards.
· Promotes golf programs and clubhouse activities, monitors performance, and suggests improvements.
· Leads membership recruitment and plans marketing through social media, brochures, and media releases/alerts.
· Prepares agendas and presentations for community meetings to gather support for the course and clubhouse.
· Assists in securing resources through grants, donations, and fundraising and maintains excellent relationships with the McPherson Recreation Commission and other entities.
· Handles inquiries from the public and maintains relationships with stakeholders.
· Manages all Clubhouse operations, including inventory, fleet management, fee collection, and point-of-sale systems.
· Oversees the opening and closing of the TCGC clubhouse and facilities.
· Follows department policies and enforces safety procedures.
· Regular attendance is required.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
· Assists other departments as needed.
· Assists with cleaning and maintenance of the clubhouse as needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in delivering development or sports programs is required, along with availability for evenings and weekends. Experience in recruiting and managing staff and volunteers is essential. Travel for Academies, Coach Trainings, and Regional Meetings is required. LPGA/PGA experience is preferred but not mandatory. The employee must gain the necessary skills to perform the job proficiently within one year.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in the area of sports administration, business management, education, recreation or related field is strongly preferred. Continuing education in a related field is expected. The employee must have a valid Kansas Driver’s License (KDL) and have and maintain a good driving record.
Technical Skills: The position requires strong interpersonal skills for working with employees, members, external organizations, and the public. Advanced analytical and financial abilities are essential for managing the golf course budget. Marketing and customer service expertise are key for attracting and retaining members and organizing tournaments. Experience in managing golf course facilities, including the pro shop and clubhouse, and generating revenue streams is necessary. The role demands professionalism, staff management, problem-solving, and proficiency in computers, vehicles, and equipment. Strong training, scheduling, staffing, and public relations skills are also required. The ability to teach golf to players of various skill levels, offering instruction and guidance to enhance their performance and enjoyment of the game, is a critical component of the position.
Problem Solving: Independent problem solving is involved in this position. This employee encounters problems with occasional detrimental behavior of golf patrons, personnel issues, golfer concerns and complaints, equipment malfunctions, and project scheduling conflicts.
Decision Making: Independent decision-making is involved in this position. This employee makes decisions about resolving golfer complaints and personnel issues, prioritizing department activities and goals, and performing daily duties in the safest and most efficient manner.
Supervision: This employee works under the direction of the Golf Course Operations Superintendent. This employee exercises continuous supervision over all golf course clubhouse personnel.
Financial Accountability: This employee is responsible for department resources and equipment. This employee has the authority to purchase necessary department equipment and supplies. This employee participates in the annual budget process.
Personal Relations: Daily contact with the general public, co-workers, supervisory personnel, and frequent contact with the organization’s governing body is expected.
Working Conditions: Some adverse working conditions exist within this position. Exposure to blood borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, confined spaces, excessive noise, heavy machinery, heights, and adverse weather is expected.
Physical Requirements: Some manual labor including lifting and carrying heavy objects, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, extensive walking, and the ability to operate departmental equipment is required frequently in this position.
