The City of Coffeyville is accepting applications for the position of full-time Animal Control Officer. This position is responsible for enforcing City animal control laws and ordinances, responding to calls for service involving stray or dangerous animals, and ensuring proper care for animals housed at the City shelter.

Duties include patrolling the city to locate and safely capture stray, injured, or aggressive animals; responding to animal-related complaints from the public; issuing warnings or citations for ordinance violations; investigating cases of animal abuse or neglect; preparing reports; and testifying in court when necessary. Additional responsibilities include feeding and caring for impounded animals, cleaning kennels, assisting with adoption procedures, and humanely euthanizing animals when required. The position also plays an active role in public education about responsible pet ownership and animal safety.

Qualified applicants must be able to work independently, communicate clearly, and deal effectively with the public under sometimes stressful conditions. Applicants must also be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and handling animals of all types and temperaments. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift 45 pounds or more.

Annual wage range is $33,966–$47,112 depending on qualifications and experience, with a full benefits package. Applicants must meet the City of Coffeyville residency requirement to reside within a fifty-mile radius of City Hall at 102 W. 7th St., Coffeyville, Kansas, and be able to respond within one hour of call.
