Park City is growing, and we’re looking for a skilled, hands-on leader to join our team as Assistant Public Works Director. In this role, you will be responsible for directing the activities and personnel in the operations of Water, Wastewater, and Maintenance, and may assist with the supervision and coordination of activities in Streets and Parks. When the Public Works Director is absent, you will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the department.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and support Public Works staff, including hiring, training, and evaluations
- Plan, assign, and coordinate daily operations and special projects
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Solicit and receive competitive bids
- Enforce safety policies and department procedures
- Respond to citizen questions and service concerns
- Assist with budgeting, financial planning, and reporting
- Represent the department at City Council meetings when needed
- Provide leadership during emergencies and major weather events
- Perform inspections and other Public Works duties as required
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of leadership in Public Works or related service environment
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of Public Works activities including general maintenance of sanitary sewers, storm sewers, streets, water distribution systems, parks and buildings.
- Strong mechanical and technical skills; knowledge of the operations of backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, snowplows, tractors, mowers, and other heavy equipment
- Ability to interpret maps, schematics, blueprints, reports and manuals
- Ability to develop and enforce safety policies and procedures
- Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
- High school diploma or GED required (post-secondary preferred)
Competitive Pay
- $41.26 – $51.53 per hour
- $3,000 sign-on bonus
