POSITION SUMMARY
This seasonal, temporary position is responsible for providing exemplary customer service duties at the County Park’s bait shop.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all–inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may also be required or assigned.
- Provides customer service in a courteous, friendly and conscientious manner.
- Becomes knowledgeable in fishing and boating merchandise.
- Able to operate POS computers and computerized cash machines.
- Maintains live bait facilities.
- Stocks shelves with merchandise and checks in vendor deliveries as necessary.
- Maintains a clean and organized environment.
- Installs fishing line on reels, if necessary.
- Assists customers with returns, exchanges or other special situations.
- Issues fishing licenses and various park permits, able to give information to visitors about regulations about fishing and park rules and regulations.
- Deters potential theft by engaging with shoppers and being present in the shop at all times.
- Tracks check-in and check-out time and camping locations of campers.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in a customer service role, preferably with a focus on outdoor recreation/fishing.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Works under general supervision on some assignments but works independently performing recurring duties in accordance with established procedures. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the County.
- Knowledge of current office practices and procedures consistent for this position.
- Knowledge of computer software consistent for this position.
- Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
- Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
- Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
- Ability to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and 10-key calculator/adding machine.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations required of this position.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in performing duties, resolving problems and interpreting policies and regulations.
- Ability to communicate detailed and often sensitive information effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations calmly and tactfully.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with individuals within and outside the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding business-related files, reports and conversations, within the provision of Freedom of Information Act and other applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations.
- Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and respond after hours as needed.
