The City of Park City Recreation Department is hiring Seasonal/Part-Time Lifeguards for our brand-new Aquatic Center opening this Memorial Day!

Lifeguards play a vital role in keeping our pool safe and enjoyable for everyone. Responsibilities include monitoring swimmers, enforcing pool rules, responding to emergencies, and helping with general pool operations during the summer season.

?? Pay: $13 – $19 per hour

? Must be at least 15 years old
? Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification required (will provide)
? Must be able to pass a background check
? Previous lifeguarding experience helpful but not required

Lifeguard (Seasonal/Part-Time)

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Pool Manager, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons at the municipal swimming pool. This position provides preventive lifeguarding by monitoring swimmer activities, enforcing pool rules and regulations, and responding to emergencies. Lifeguards also assist with general pool operations including cleaning, customer service, and facility support during the summer season.

Essential Functions:

  • Observe and enforce all pool rules at all times.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies; perform water rescues and administer CPR, first aid, or other lifesaving techniques as needed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the pool, deck, and equipment and report safety hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Assist with testing and recording pool water quality as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment including pool deck, restrooms, and surrounding areas.
  • Set up and take down equipment for daily operations and special events.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to patrons and coworkers.
  • Assist with front desk duties, admissions, concessions, and customer service when assigned
  • Dependability and punctuality in maintaining assigned work schedules.
  • Attend required staff meetings, training, and in-service sessions.
  • Complete incident reports and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding issues or concerns.
  • Support aquatic programs, events, and other activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Good interpersonal skills to effectively work and communicate with co-workers, guests and general public. Must be 15 years old. Lifeguard certification and CPR/PR and first aid training. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.  

 

Experience:

 Previous life guarding experience desirable

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to work outdoors for extended periods in heat, sun, and varying weather conditions.. Should be able to see, hear, sit, stand, stoop, bend, swim and walk about. Must have the ability to pass a water test and perform a water rescue if necessary.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed in an outdoor aquatic facility with prolonged exposure to sun, heat, humidity, and pool chemicals. Duties may include repetitive motions such as swimming, bending, lifting, and maintaining visual surveillance of the pool area. Employees may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens or communicable diseases when responding to emergencies.
