Health Department Director - Pottawatomie County

Salary dependent upon education and experience.

The Pottawatomie County Health Director guides the Pottawatomie County Health Department staff that performs public health services in the County. This position assures compliance of all state, federal, agency and nurse practice act regulations in carrying out public health activities which including communicable disease control/intervention/prevention activities, health education, immunizations, direct client services, grant programs and fiscal accountability. This position is responsible for the department budget and grant submissions.

Must have and maintain current CPR certification, valid driver's license, clean driving record, and supervisory experience.

Master's degree; or one to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Associate's degree in Business, Public Administration, or related area desired.  Preferences provided to applicants with at least a B.S. degree in Public Health, Biological Sciences, or a a related field.  Currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Kansas a plus.  Ten (10) years' experience, with at least five (5) years progressively responsible supervisory experience preferred.

A “clean” record is defined as: No misdemeanor or felony convictions for traffic/vehicular offenses (such as but not limited to DUI, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, hit and run, etc.) that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) at fault or chargeable accidents that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) traffic infractions (such as but not limited to speeding, failure to yield right of way, etc.) that are less than one year old.
