Position Responsibilities: Participates in the day-to-day operations of the Pottawatomie County Jail in order to assure the welfare of inmates. Responsibilities include booking & releasing offenders, maintaining security of the facility, and escorting offenders. Additional responsibilities include supervising work release programs, dispense medications, effectively manage volatile and violent offenders, and complete a number of clerical duties.
Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Applicants must not have a felony conviction or dishonorably discharged from any branch of the military, or have a background that shows disrespect for the law enforcement profession. Applicants must also successfully pass a physical agility, written and physiological exam, and possess strong communications skills, integrity, morality and enthusiasm. Previous experience strongly preferred.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES FOR UNIFORMED (Law Enforcement/Jailer) POSITIONS: Qualified applicants are required to participate in written and physical assessments prior to the oral interview process. Applicants that are unable to pass either/both tests three times are considered unqualified applicants for a period of one year following the last unsuccessful test.
