Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, this permanent part-time (20-32 hours a week) non-exempt position is responsible for work involving direct nursing services for clients in open and satellite clinics. Duties include coordinating the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. Special assignments may be given to WIC Nurse. Work includes planning for and carrying out WIC programs and coordinating these programs with related services. Work is performed with latitude for professional independence and in accordance with established agency policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Breastfeeding Counselor
- Participate in development and updating of local breastfeeding policies and procedures including provision of breast pumps to WIC clients.
- Assist with the breastfeeding action plan for the Nutrition Services Plan.
- Help ensure a breastfeeding-friendly clinic environment that fosters a positive attitude toward breastfeeding.
- Assist in collecting documentation records and data as needed for quarterly reports.
- Participate in SA sponsored BFPC trainings.
- Participate in the coordination and facilitation of WIC breastfeeding community outreach and promotion activities.

WIC Program Coordination
- Develop and interpret health department and nutrition policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with WIC and health department policies and procedures.
- Ensure all local policies and procedures are compliant with State PPM, and the terms of the WIC contract.
- Develop and oversee caseload management to ensure that services are provided to the greatest numbers of eligible persons.
- Assist in coordinating a minimum of two outreach efforts with appropriate community programs to ensure caseload at capacity.

Required Education
:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current license as a registered nurse by the Kansas State Board of Nursing
Driver’s license
Maintain current CPR certification
