Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Solid Waste Director, this nonexempt position is responsible for driving a semi to haul trailers full of waste to the regional solid waste landfill, and manual and semi-skilled work operating equipment to separate recyclables or contaminants from the solid waste stream. Responsible for the safety and efficient operation of equipment and safety of general public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Drive a semi to haul trailers full of waste to the regional solid waste landfill.
- Drive a semi to haul metal bins and convenience area roll off bins.
- Inspection of vehicles, semi-tractor trailers pre and post inspections.
- Preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Adhering to all D.O.T. regulations of traffic safety protocols.
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed.
- Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely transport & delivery.
- Be polite and courteous to motorists you encounter on the road.
- Use tools such as precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Diagnose machine, equipment, infrastructure malfunctions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
- Prepare time and work reports.

Required Education:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year-college or technical school; or one year to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (already hold or able to obtain):
Kansas Class A Commercial Driver’s license
Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) training
OSHA Hazwoper training
